ASKED QUESTIONS (continued)
What does a bail agent do?
A bail agent screens individuals
to make sure that future clients are likely to appear at all future
court dates. Once it is determined that an individual is qualified
and becomes a client it is the bail agent's duty to make sure that
clients are aware of and attend all court hearings. Should a client
fail to appear at a court hearing it is the bail agent's duty to
return the defendant to the custody of the court. The bail agent's
duties go above and beyond simply guaranteeing appearance at court;
the bail agent has duties to the public and their clients as well.
It is the bail agent’s duty to make sure that everyone involved
in the bond understands their duties and liabilities with the bond.
Obtaining the release of a loved one can be a stressful situation
and it is the bail agent's duty to make the process as simple and
painless as possible.
How
do I become a bail agent?
Being a bail agent is not for everyone. You must be understanding,
honest, hardworking, and willing to learn. If you feel that you
would make a good bail agent please contact SoSo Surety Corporation
so that we may walk you through the process. In most instances you
will need to obtain a license from the state. Once you have obtained
your license a training session will be scheduled so that can learn
the processes and forms involved in bail bonds. (Please make sure
that if you choose another managing agent that they provide you
with all the training and assistance a new bail agent needs. There
is a lot of responsibility involved with being a bail agent and
just giving you a book to review is not enough training, being under-trained
will only hurt you.)
